Where should your savings go?
Type in your amount. See where it can go, how much it can grow, and what is safe or risky. Plain words, real rupees.

What people advise for situations like yours
This is to help you learn. It is not personal advice. The plan is a simple example built from your answers and public numbers. It does not tell you to buy any product. Funds, shares, gold and REITs can go down as well as up, and what happened before may not happen again. Before you buy, read the product's papers, or talk to an adviser licensed by SECP (the government body that watches investment companies).
Money just sitting there?
Most savings in Pakistan sit in current accounts, wallets or cash at home, earning nothing. See what the same money could earn somewhere you can still take it out in a day or two.

What changed lately
What people say vs what happened
Things Pakistanis often say about money, checked against official numbers from SBP (the central bank), FBR (tax office) and PSX (the stock market). Many were true in 2018-23 but not since.
PSX snapshot
Facts, not tips. A share is a small piece of a company. Below are the big companies Pakistanis talk about most, and ETFs, which let you own a little of many companies in one go. Nothing here tells you to buy.
Popular companies that pay a yearly share of profit
| Code | Company | Business | Price (Rs) | Price vs profit (P/E) | Last 1 year | 2026 so far | Shares that trade | Yearly payout* |
|---|
Half of these went up and half went down last year. Even the shares people talk about most online did worse than the whole market (the KSE-100). Price vs profit (P/E): how many years of profit the price equals; lower can mean cheaper. Shares that trade: if few shares are for sale, the price can jump around more.
ETFs: buy many companies at once
| Code | Fund | What it follows | Yearly fee | Size (Rs billion) |
|---|

Can I buy Apple or Tesla shares from Pakistan?
Yes, there is one legal way, with limits. Many other ways you see online are risky, against the rules, or scams.
-
Allowed
- Up to $25,000 a year in shares of companies listed abroad (like Apple or Tesla), sent through one bank branch you choose.
- You must be a tax filer, use money you paid tax on, and tell SBP within a month (form V-100).
- Any profit or money from selling must come back to Pakistan, in rupees.
- Inside Pakistan: PMEX (a regulated exchange) has futures on US markets like the S&P 500. These are bets on the price, with borrowed money, not owning shares. Risky.
-
Unclear (grey)
- Paying a foreign app by debit card, Wise, Payoneer or a freelancer dollar balance. People do it, but it skips the bank route above.
- Buying foreign ETFs: the rule says "shares of companies" and does not say if ETFs count.
- Leaving profit abroad instead of bringing it home.
-
Not allowed or a scam
- Forex, CFD or "margin trading" apps based abroad. SBP banned sending money to them in 2022.
- Any "broker" not licensed by SECP, especially ones found on WhatsApp, Telegram or Instagram.
- Crypto apps without a PVARA licence, and "tokenised shares" on crypto exchanges. These are not real shares.
How the fake "US share" apps work
- Someone adds you to a WhatsApp or Telegram group with "signals".
- The app shows big profits on screen, and lets you take out a small amount to win your trust.
- Then they push you to put in more. When you try to take it all out, there is a "fee" or the app disappears.
SECP has warned about fake apps using the name of Interactive Brokers ("IBKR"), Quotex and copies of real brokers. Check any company on the SECP, PSX or PMEX broker lists first, or paste the message into the scam check.
Tax: if you live in Pakistan, profit from abroad is taxed here, and you must declare foreign income over $10,000 or foreign assets over $100,000 a year. Rules from the SBP Foreign Exchange Manual, Chapter 20. Not confirmed: the tax rate on foreign share profits.
